Cooking and Burn Safety
Cooking is the leading cause of home fires and injuries in the Nation. The easiest way to prevent cooking fires is to stand by your pan. Unattended cooking is the most common cause of this type of fire. If a fire does start, covering the pan with a lid is the safest way to extinguish it. Never block a hydrant
Firefighters need unrestricted access to water hydrants. The lines (hoses) that connect to them do not bend easily. They require straight-in connections.

Residential and Commercial fires are a true emergency. This vehicle was blocking access to the hydrant leaving Firefighters no choice. Note the broken glass on the pavement under the window.

Car Blocking Fire Hydrant

In the winter, don't forget to shovel out the hydrant as well.

Building Escape Planning
