The Communications Center, under the authority of the Chief of Police, provides communications to a variety of agencies including the Mendon Police Department, Mendon Fire Department, Mendon Highway Department as well as the Animal Control Officer and the town's Emergency Management initiatives. The communications section also controls and provides mobile data terminal services to our Officers in the field, as well as officers from Blackstone, Hopedale and Upton who are part of our sophisticated wireless computer system, known as Packet Cluster.
The Communications Officer receives all oral communications from the public and law enforcement personnel, fire services etc. coming into the Police Station. By following established procedures, they transmit requests for services to the appropriate agencies and locations. The Communications Center of the Mendon Police Department is the vital link between public safety personnel in the field and the people they serve.
The Communications Center is staffed twenty-four hours a day. The center has fully-enhanced 911 capabilities as well as a sophisticated regional radio system.
